The Global Citizens Forum To Kick Off At NADMO This Week


    The Global Citizens Forum Series will commence at the Head Office of the National Disaster Management Organization in Accra on Wednesday 21st June, 2017 @ 9am.


    The Global Citizens Forum is a signature dialogue forum to deliberate on pressing issues related to sustainable development in Africa and globally with professionals 17 government institutions and tertiary institutions in Ghana and West Africa. It features global citizens actively deliberating on the socio-economic challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa and how the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals can serve as a map or benchmark in the innovation of solutions. This is also to complement the efforts of the President of Ghana, H.E. Nana Akuffo-Addo to succeed as the current Co-Chair for the SDGs Advocates Group of the United Nations.

    The series targets to engage professionals, specialists,  from sector inter-related to the 17 SDGs in Ghana. The program would also feature speakers from the United Nations, Rally for the Goals, Development Partners, House of Chiefs and the Academia under related themes relevant to the development of Ghana and Africa.  This event is in support of SDG 17.

    The initiative is powered by Rainbow Innovations and ably supported Rally for the Goals, YALI RLC Alumni Chapter, Ghana, Humanity Empowerment for Livelihood Partners (HELP) and other partners.

    The maiden edition will feature key addresses from NADMO, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, development partners and main participation from the staff of NADMO, YALI Alumni, Youth Leaders and SDGs CSOs and corporations. The program will have a panel discussion on the theme, “SDG 11 &13: The Benchmark for Sustainable Urban and Rural Disaster Management for climate action in Ghana and Sub-Saharan Africa”. The will host seasoned disaster management and climate experts, SDGs advocates and government representatives. The forum poised to instigate a SDGs related initiative or project which will be assessed next year during the 2018 season of the series.
