Agona Swedru Akwambo Festival To Light Up In August

All is set for the much awaited festival in the Central region the Akwambo festival.

The festival has over the years experienced massive reception and attendance by people from all walks of life and this year’s is no exception. With a higher anticipation from the people of the central region and Ghana as a whole, organizers have promised a more fun-packed event this year.

Organizers say this year’s celebration will commence with a float and a street carnival on the 20th of August, 2017.

The Akwambo festival is celebrated by the chiefs and peoples of Agona Nyakrom and Agona Swedru in the Central region of Ghana. The festival is celebrated in the month of August every year to remind the present generation of how their ancestors migrated from the ancient town of Efutuobir in 1730 under Nana Gyan Kodwo to Agona Swedru.

The paths that lead to the traditional dwelling places and ancient palaces are cleared during the celebration of the festival.

Don’t miss out on this year’s edition
